The story takes place during the weeks before Christmas, in the small mining town of fictitious Granhyttan in Bergslagen, Sweden. One day a suspicious couple, Signe and Orvar, arrives in the small town and retires in an abandoned hut. Nobody knows what they up to; but strange things starts to happen as Staffan finds a gold nugget while playing in a disused mine at the Kråkberget Mountain during a skiing trip with his schoolmates. Staffan believes the nugget is a part of Skarp-Erik's gold, as his grandpa had told exciting stories about. The news about the gold discovery spread quickly and Staffan and his friends are soon pursued by curious schoolmates, school staff and also the mysterious strangers. His method using plastic tracheas sown with stemcells has been operated on patients in the US, Russia, Sweden and the UK. So far, unfortunately, the track record of his plastic organs is not very good. Almost all patients are dead. And several of his former surgeon colleagues in Sweden claim that not only does the method not work, but that his scientific claim to fame is based on falsified and misrepresented data. star 7.5Varan-TV was a Swedish TV-series, broadcast in Sveriges Television for two seasons, the first one in 1997 and the second in 1998. Created by the comedian group Varanteatern. The first season contained six half-hour episodes and the second season eight. In the first season Varanteatern represented themselves as a "crazy peep-show with more than 400 kg on stage". The episodes were a mixture of sketches played in front of an audience and prerecorded clips. Both of these elements were closely connected, for example: One person acting in a prerecorded clip which was shown could in the next second appear on the scene set. Some characters could appear repeatedly during an episode and also reappear in other episodes.
