D. L. Hughley Breaks the News was a comedy news show that aired on CNN from October 25, 2008 to March 2009, hosted and head written by comedian D. L. Hughley. On March 9, 2009, CNN announced that Hughley would be ending the show due to a desire to work in Los Angeles and be closer to his family. He plans to continue his work with CNN as a Los Angeles-based contributor for the network. On the show's finale, Hughley did a report about legalizing marijuana. He said that he had a back problem and took the show into his doctor's office to get his prescription refilled, but CNN censored some of the interview. D. L. Planet in Peril is a two-part, four-hour documentary on CNN that premiered on October 23, 2007, broadcast in the CNN Presents format. It also aired as a special presentation on December 2 & 3, 2007 on Animal Planet & Animal Planet HD. CNN's Anderson Cooper, Sanjay Gupta and Animal Planet's Jeff Corwin investigate the current state of our planet, focusing on four major areas: global warming, overpopulation, deforestation and species loss. They report from a wide variety of locations including Alaska, Brazil, Madagascar, Southeast Asia, and Yellowstone National Park, examining the effects of population growth, rising temperatures, poaching and illegal wildlife trade, among others, on the global environment. Specific areas it deals with are the conflict in the Niger Delta and La Oroya, Peru. On December 11, 2008, CNN premiered a sequel to Planet in Peril, called Planet in Peril: Battle Lines. Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer was a Sunday talk show hosted by Wolf Blitzer on CNN and broadcast around the world by CNN International. The show's slogan was The last word in Sunday talk and comments made on the show were often featured in the following Monday's news headlines. The show, launched on October 3, 1993, was moderated by Frank Sesno until January 11, 1998, and by Wolf Blitzer from January 18, 1998 to January 11, 2009. The program aired at 11:00 AM ET and thus was the last of the Sunday talk shows to air in most East Coast markets, hence the name "Late Edition.". On December 8, 2008, CNN announced that the show would end the following month to make way for a new 4 hour news block hosted by John King. The final "Late Edition" with Wolf Blitzer aired on January 11, 2009. The new newsblock, called State of the Union with John King, began airing on January 18, 2009.Rick's List

Rick's List was a news and commentary program on CNN hosted by Rick Sanchez. The show aired weekdays from 3 to 5 PM EST. It first aired on Monday, January 18, 2010, when Sanchez's one-hour segment of CNN Newsroom was lengthened to two hours and given its own title, and The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer was moved one hour later. Its last broadcast was on Friday, October 1, 2010 when CNN fired Sanchez over controversial comments made on a radio show. As with Sanchez's previous broadcast, Rick's List focuses on using social networking including Twitter to create a "national conversation" about the news.
