That Metal Show is a talk show hosted by Eddie Trunk with co-hosts Jim Florentine and Don Jamieson. It premiered on VH1 Classic on November 15, 2008. New episodes air on VH1 Classic on Saturday nights and are rebroadcast throughout the week.
Discussions on the show focus on "all things hard rock and heavy metal", past and present. Among the regular segments are round table discussions between the three regular hosts, top-5 debates, interviews with heavy metal musicians, "Stump the Trunk," where audience members ask provided trivia questions of host Eddie Trunk in hopes of acquiring prizes, and "The Throwdown," where the hosts and guests vote on and debate great moments and figures in metal history. The guitar & bass-heavy theme song, "Day to Remember" was co-written by co-host Jim Florentine and Guns N' Roses lead guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal and performed by Thal. The intro to "Stump the Trunk" was composed by Mark Fain.
The VH1 Rock Honors were an annual ceremony paying homage to bands who influenced the sound of rock music. The events began in 2006, and the final event took place in 2008. The general format of each show is for modern bands to "pay tribute" to classic greats of the rock/metal world, after which time the artist being paid tribute to plays multiple songs. The 2006 and 2007 shows featured four inductees each, whereas the 2008 show featured one, albeit with multiple bands paying tribute. The shows were directed by David Mallet and produced by Paul Flattery. Currently, VH1 has no plans for a CD or DVD release of any show.
Picking up where the original “Behind the Music” episodes left off, these episodes include brand new interviews, footage, and video clips that update the stories of several classic artists over the last 10 to 15 years. While all of these artists have previously been featured on the "Behind the Music" series, the new footage and updates are bound to be captivating returns to the lives of our musical heroes.
